Dalongdong Baoan Temple. Dalongdong Baoan Temple, founded in 1742 and rebuilt in 1805, primarily worships Baosheng Dadi. Every year on the 15th day of the third lunar month, to celebrate the birthday of Baosheng Dadi, a two-month-long "Baosheng Cultural Festival" is held. This festival combines religious rituals, folk arts, historical site tours, cultural and artistic studies, aesthetic competitions, family surname operas, temple parades, fire walking, health care, and academic seminars. It is the largest, liveliest, and most popular temple fair in northern Taiwan, making Dalongdong an important cultural hub in the region. The decorative arts of Dalongdong Baoan Temple, such as stone lions, dragon pillars, flowers and birds, Koji pottery, clay sculptures, Koji pottery, wood carvings, and painted murals, are renowned art treasures, each possessing historical and artistic value. During its construction, Baoan Temple commissioned two master craftsmen, Guo Ta and Chen Yingbin, to create wood carvings. This friendly competition was a popular practice at the time, known as "duichangzuo" (rivalry work). Therefore, when appreciating the decorative arts of Baoan Temple, one can simultaneously admire the works of different craftsmen on both sides. The seven murals in the main hall's corridor are masterpieces by the national treasure painter Pan Lishui, attracting both domestic and international visitors who linger and marvel at their beauty. Dalongdong Baoan Temple has transformed from a local temple into a center for religion, culture, and education.
