Xingtian Temple enshrines Guan Erye (Lord Guan), the Sage Emperor of Nanwu Tianheng, as the main deity, accompanied by Lü Erye (Lord Lü) Dongbin of Nangong Fuyou, Zhang Erye (Lord Zhang) Dan of Jiutian Siming Zhenjun, Wang Erye (Lord Wang) Shan of Xiantian Huoluo Lingguan, Yue Erye (Lord Yue) Fei, the loyal and martial King Yue, Guan Sheng Taizi Ping, and Zhou Enshi Cang, as well as sages and deities from Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. Since its completion, it has become the most visited temple in the greater Taipei area, and even in all of northern Taiwan. In addition to the widespread acceptance of its beliefs by the public, other characteristics include: no donation boxes, no offerings of livestock, no burning of spirit money, no acceptance of gold plaques, no theatrical performances to appease deities, no spirit mediums, no public fundraising, and prohibition of commercial activities. The temple is located in the city center and has a spacious temple square. It was also the first to establish a religious foundation, solidifying its social welfare attributes. In addition to its religious activities, which include the main temple in Taipei and two branches in Sanxia and Beitou, as well as the 'Xingtian Temple Cultural and Educational Development Promotion Foundation' established in 1995, Xingtian Temple also operates two affiliated libraries (located in downtown Taipei and Beitou respectively) and En Chu Kong Hospital in Sanxia.
