Monga Qingshan Temple. Zhang Gun, a general under Sun Quan of the Three Kingdoms, achieved success in governing Hui'an, Quanzhou. After his death, the local people established Qingshan Temple to worship him, and Zhang Gun was revered as King Qingshan or King Ling'an. King Qingshan has always been believed to possess divine power to eliminate plagues, oversee justice, and reward good deeds and punish evil. The deities accompanying him include the Eight Divisions, General Jia, and General Suo. Monga Qingshan Temple has a history of over a hundred years. It is a three-courtyard temple with a mix of wood and stone construction. It has undergone several renovations and is quite exquisite, with features like an octagonal caisson ceiling that is quite impressive. The materials used in the renovations also have significant historical context. For example, the stone pillars and bases in the front hall were sourced from the remnants of the Yuanshan Shrine. Additionally, the statue of King Qingshan has sharp eyes; no matter from which angle you gaze, you will feel something different. Visitors are encouraged to come and experience it for themselves. The birthday of King Qingshan is on the 23rd day of the tenth lunar month each year. Legend has it that two days prior, King Qingshan leads his generals on a tour of the streets and alleys of the Monga area, blessing the people of Monga with peace. On the 22nd, a lively night procession of the King's palanquin is held, featuring numerous performances such as the Eight Generals, drum troupes, and bands. Households set up altars and offerings along the roadside. This is known as the 'Monga Grand Worship' and is considered one of the three major temple festivals in Taipei City, alongside the Dadaocheng Xiahai City God Temple and the procession of Bao Sheng Da Di.
