The "bagua shape" of the octagonal building, symbolizing gathering from all directions, serves as the entrance, while the cross-shaped building forms the main structure. Together with the adjacent north and south plazas, it is collectively known as "The Red House." The Red House has transformed through various roles, including a market, storytelling venue, cinema, and theater. Since 2007, the Taipei City Government Department of Cultural Affairs has entrusted the Taipei Cultural Foundation to manage and operate it, promoting it as a cultural and creative platform with the goal of revitalizing the Ximending district. After more than 10 years of operation, it has gradually accumulated creative energy, shaping it into a landmark cultural and artistic hub in Taipei and even Taiwan. The first floor of the octagonal building houses comprehensive exhibitions, dining, and retail spaces, including the "Red House Tea House" for tea tasting and relaxation, and "Red House Select" for Taiwanese-style goods. The second floor features the "Second Floor Theater," a quaint and elegant professional performance venue. The cross-shaped building houses the "Riverside Live House Ximen Red House Performance Hall," which promotes the development of small cultural and creative industries, and the "Workshop 16" exhibition and sales space. Additionally, the north and south plazas offer diverse cultural experience activities, in addition to regular exhibitions.
