Taipei Confucius Temple. Taipei Confucius Temple was constructed in 1927, located in the culturally rich old street of Dalongdong. Under the urban renewal plan promoted by the Taipei City Government, it forms the "Temple, School, Palace" Dalongdong Cultural Park with Dalong Elementary School and Bao'an Temple, holding multiple meanings as a ceremonial site, a symbol of Confucianism, and a city-designated historic site. Taipei Confucius Temple adopts the architectural style of the original temple in Qufu. Its beams, pillars, doors, and windows are unadorned, appearing simple yet solemn. The layout follows the sequence of Wanren Gongqiang (Wall of Ten Thousand Ren), Pan Pond, Lingxing Gate, Yi Gate, Dacheng Hall, and Chong Sheng Ancestral Hall. Additionally, unlike other temples, all the pillars, doors, and windows in the Confucius Temple are without couplets, said to signify that no one dares to show off their literary skills in front of the Great Sage and Teacher Confucius. As it was built by the populace, in addition to its form and specifications, regional decorative styles were incorporated, namely the Koji pottery and Jiannian (cut-and-paste) decorations unique to the Minnan region. The Koji pottery decoration is particularly a special example in the architecture of Confucius Temples in Taiwan. The main hall of the Confucius Temple is Dacheng Hall, where the tablet of the Great Sage and Teacher Confucius is enshrined in the central shrine. Above it hangs the black-and-gold plaque "Education Without Discrimination." The side walls enshrine the tablets of the Four Associates (Yan Hui, Zeng Shen, Zisi, and Mencius) and the Twelve Philosophers, creating an atmosphere of solemnity and reverence. The atmosphere of the Confucius Temple imparts a beauty of solemnity and reverence, which also embodies the upright spirit of Chinese Confucian culture.
