Lin An Tai Historical House was first built in 1783 and has a history of over 200 years. This traditional single-story, two-courtyard, four-section Minnan-style house was built according to folk geomancy customs. Its roof structure adopts a single ridge in the "one dragon" style, with swallowtail curves presenting a natural and gentle appearance. The outer courtyard is paved with red laterite, which was used by merchant ships from mainland China to Taiwan as ballast at the bottom of the ship to prevent instability. It is also known as ballast stone, and its advantages are that it does not grow moss and is non-slip. The materials used are largely Fujian cypress, with Guanyin stone for the stonework. Bamboo nails and wooden nails are used, and mortise and tenon joints are employed. The crescent-shaped pond in front of the historical house, named for its shape, is a type of treasure-gathering and containment form in Chinese feng shui. It not only has functions of defense, fire prevention, water supply, and cooling but also adds considerable beauty to the historical house's environment. A close observation of the historical house, both inside and out, reveals countless essences and wisdoms of traditional architectural culture, as well as glimpses into the lifestyle of the past.
