Taipei Public Library Beitou Branch is Taiwan's first green building library, located in the lush and ecologically rich Beitou Park, adjacent to the Hot Spring Museum. It is a library with a total area of 650 ping, consisting of one basement level and two above-ground levels. The scent of books indoors and the chirping of birds outdoors create a harmonious atmosphere, making reading a pleasant and enjoyable activity. The library houses tens of thousands of books, with a special collection focus on "ecological conservation." This treasure trove of knowledge makes book lovers feel like they are in a paradise of literature. The furniture in the indoor reading area is meticulously designed to complement the architecture. Outdoors, there are wooden deck chairs and reading platforms, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the world of books while enjoying the gentle breeze and nature. When taking a break, one can step outside to admire the vibrant green forest and the ecological lotus pond, which not only relieves eye strain but also rejuvenates both mind and body. The roof is a lightweight ecological roof equipped with solar panels capable of generating 16 kilowatts of electricity. It features deep balconies for shading and vertical wooden grilles to reduce heat radiation into the building, thereby lowering energy consumption and achieving energy efficiency. The green roof and sloped grass areas are designed to retain moisture and naturally drain rainwater to a recycling tank. This recycled water is then used for irrigating plants and flushing toilets, achieving greening and reducing water waste. The building utilizes wood and steel.
