Follow the concrete stairs, and you will find Yuanshan Water Shrine by the reservoir. The original stone lanterns, shrine name monument, chozuya (water basin), and a pair of guardian lion-dogs remain. This is a shrine from the Japanese colonial era, largely preserved in its original layout, and situated near a conveniently accessible MRT station. However, due to its obscurity, it rarely attracts visitors. Inside, there is an elevated area which is the "Yuanshan Reservoir," an important hydraulic node in the "Caoshan Waterway System." Although Yuanshan Water Shrine is only separated from the Shilin commercial district by a road, it is a tranquil place, exuding an ancient, mysterious, and serene atmosphere.
