Beitou Incineration Plant Observation Deck. The Beitou Incineration Plant was established on July 1, 1991, originally named the Shilin Incineration Plant. On July 1, 1995, its name was changed to Beitou Incineration Plant due to the site being reclassified under Beitou District. The observation deck is located at an elevation of 116 meters on the plant's painted chimney tower and can be reached by a transparent sightseeing elevator from the first-floor entrance. The observation deck features a floor-to-ceiling window offering a 360-degree view. From here, one can overlook the Yangming, Guanyin, and Datun mountain ranges, and observe Shezi Island nestled between the Tamsui and Keelung rivers. Looking down, one can see the vast Guandu Plain with its mountains, rivers, lakes, and green fields. The sunset over Guanyin in the evening and the dazzling night scenery can all be enjoyed from this vantage point, making it a famous viewing spot in Taipei City. The deck also provides information comparing the actual scenery with explanatory notes.
