Dadaocheng Theatre. Dadaocheng Theatre, located on the 8th and 9th floors of Yongle Market. Dadaocheng Theatre is located on the 8th and 9th floors of Yongle Market. Before 1908, it was originally a garden, and was rebuilt into a market during the Japanese colonial era. It once gathered nearly a thousand fabric stores, becoming the largest fabric center in Taiwan. Dadaocheng is also the cradle of traditional opera, known as the "Opera Hub." Dadaocheng Theatre aims to perform, promote, and preserve traditional opera. The 9th-floor theater hosts various traditional opera performances such as Taiwanese opera, Peking opera, Nanguan, Beiguan, Hakka opera, storytelling, etc. The 8th-floor performance hall offers regular puppet shows, Nanguan, storytelling programs, and the 1st-floor plaza features "Play in Opera" cultural and artistic activities. The venue offers cultural and artistic workshops in spring and autumn, including courses on opera, tea art, and fabric art, as well as free art lectures and opera film screenings. The 8th-floor corridor exhibition area features a permanent exhibition on puppet shows and occasional special exhibitions. Guided tours are available for groups of 10 or more. Rehearsal rooms and a multi-functional briefing room are also available for rent by arts and cultural groups. In addition, the venue plans outreach performances for schools, campus arts education programs, and training and performances for its affiliated youth Taiwanese opera troupe, systematically inheriting traditional opera and nurturing young talent.
