Fumin Eco Park is one of the few parks in Taipei City that focuses on aquatic ecology. It took about five years to organize and construct, and was completed at the end of 2002. Fumin Eco Park is located next to Lane 177, Section 5, Minsheng East Road, Songshan District, between Sanmin Road and Xindong Street, with a total area of approximately 8,413 square meters. The park's most distinctive feature is its ecological waterway, which is nearly 100 meters long and resembles a miniature version of a northern Taiwanese stream. Downstream of the river ecological zone is the pond ecological zone, which features aquatic plants such as Azolla filiculoides, water lilies, cattails, and Nymphoides hydrophylla. The floodplain at the very end of the ecological zone also boasts a rich variety of aquatic plants, including Polygonum longisetum, Saururus chinensis, and Ludwigia ovalis. Walking through Fumin Eco Park, you can see birds, amphibians, insects, and other animals; hear the croaking of frogs, the chirping of birds, and the sound of flowing water; and smell the natural fragrance of ginger lilies and osmanthus flowers. Fumin Eco Park offers Taipei citizens, who usually live amidst the hustle and bustle of city life, an opportunity to calm down and experience the beauty of nature.
