Wenchang Temple. The statue of Emperor Wenchang at Wenchang Temple originated from a merchant from mainland China during the Japanese colonial era who came to Taiwan for business, bringing the statue with him. The merchant worshipped it daily during his stay. The merchant worshipped it daily during his stay. Later, due to business failure, he lost interest in worshipping deities and temporarily placed the statue in a grove. One dusk, it was discovered by a woman who did not know which deity it was. She invited several enthusiastic individuals to bring it back. Among them, an elder identified it as Emperor Wenchang, the deity in charge of earthly fortunes, and thus a small temple was built at Lane 45, Minsheng West Road to enshrine it. Subsequently, many worshippers who came to pay their respects and pray received blessings, especially those seeking academic success. It is the only important temple in the area dedicated to Emperor Wenchang, with flourishing incense.
