A nearly century-old building, a 25-year human rights movement, a place that gathers the vitality of women. Since 1992, the Garden of Hope Foundation has launched investigative work on former Taiwanese "comfort women" and carried out actions for reparations from Japan. For 25 years, they have provided companionship and care for the physical and mental well-being of the grandmothers, preserving 5,042 audio-visual materials and books related to "comfort women," as well as 730 artifacts. After 12 years of preparation and effort, the "AMa Museum: Museum of Peace and Women's Human Rights" was inaugurated on March 8, 2016, and officially established on December 10, 2016. It records the life stories of 59 Taiwanese "comfort women" grandmothers, tempered by their suffering. It is Taiwan's first multi-functional social education base built on the "comfort women" human rights movement, integrating contemporary women's human rights issues and women's empowerment. "AMa Museum" remembers history, continues to focus on contemporary women's human rights, and aspires to transcend life trauma, inspire forward momentum, and turn historical scars into cornerstones of peace to achieve a future of respect, equality, and non-violence.
