At the same time, the area was rich in pure white sandstone, giving rise to the name "Baishihu," which actually isn't a lake! In the late Qing Dynasty, during the Guangxu era, a quarry was established in the Neihu mountains. Stone from this location was used to build the walls of Taipei Prefecture. Due to its strategic terrain, in March of the 52nd year of Qianlong's reign (1787 AD), Baishihu was a battlefield where Lin Xiaowen, an associate of Lin Shuangwen's anti-Qing rebellion, fought against Qing troops. It was also once inhabited by the Ketagalan tribe. It is said that the Ketagalan tribe originally lived on the west bank of the Keelung River in Songshan. Influenced by Han Chinese settlement during the Qing Dynasty, they gradually migrated to the Baishihu area and were renamed "Xinli Tribe" to distinguish them from the "Jiuli Tribe" in the original Songshan. Today, the Ketagalan tribe has assimilated into Han Chinese society and disappeared. After Taiwan's retrocession, due to the presence of the Kaizhang Shengwang Temple in Bishan Rock, the area was renamed "Bishan Village." In 1968, it was officially renamed "Bishan Li" and remains so to this day. Surrounded by Mountains – Baishihu. Nestled amidst surrounding mountains, the development history of the Baishihu community can be traced back over 200 years to the Qing Dynasty.
