It is situated at the end of Ren'ai Road. From the top of Taipei 101, looking down at the City Hall, you can see the entire building shaped like a "double ten." The Taipei City Government is the administrative body of Taipei City, established in October 1945. It was officially upgraded to a provincial city on July 1, 1967. After the upgrade, the Mayor of Taipei was initially appointed by the government, until December 25, 1994, when the mayor became popularly elected. Since the upgrade, with the urgent needs of municipal construction, the organizational structure has changed. In addition to abolishing and merging outdated agencies (organizations), many agencies and schools have been established successively. Currently, the government has 23 bureaus including the Department of Civil Affairs, Department of Finance, Department of Education, Department of Economic Development, Department of Public Works, Department of Transportation, Department of Social Welfare, Department of Labor, Police Department, Department of Health, Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Urban Development, Department of Cultural Affairs, Fire Department, Department of Rapid Transit Systems, Taipei Feitsui Reservoir Administration, Department of Information and Tourism, Department of Land Administration, Department of Military Service Affairs, Department of Sports, Department of Information Technology, Department of Legal Affairs, and Department of Youth Affairs; 5 departments including the Secretariat, Department of Budget, Accounting and Statistics, Department of Personnel, Department of Government Ethics, and Civil Service Training Center; and 4 committees including the Research and Development Review Committee, Urban Planning Commission, Indigenous Peoples Commission, and Hakka Affairs Commission; as well as the Taipei Water Department and Taipei
