Its chief's residence was built in the nearby city walls and is a well-preserved official residence. After the retrocession, it was repurposed as the Central Guesthouse and the official residence of the Governor of Taiwan Province. This residence, enclosed by high walls, features a Western architectural style, with tiled roofs, white walls, and arched windows, evoking the charm of a South European Italian or Spanish villa. Many high-ranking official residences during the Japanese colonial era favored various European residential styles. This elegant Western-style house with a courtyard features an arched entrance hall with Greek columns as decoration. The wooden staircase is simple and elegant. Originally, there were Japanese-style rooms behind the house, which were later demolished. This practice of attaching Japanese-style rooms to the rear of a Western-style building also reflects the lifestyle of Japanese officials in Taiwan at the time.
