Through the Gongguan Waterfront Integration Plan, the Taipei City Government renovated the auditorium into a professional performance venue with 500 seats. It was opened at the end of November 2011 and is a performance venue operated and managed by the Taipei City Department of Cultural Affairs. The venue accepts applications from performing groups for booking performance slots. In addition, Shuyuan Theatre continues to support performing groups in their long-term performance projects through venue sponsorship, hoping to cultivate arts and culture industry management talent, build a favorable arts and culture environment, and strengthen the energy of Taiwan's performing arts industry.
