Kuo-Ting Lee's Former Residence. The residence was built in 1935 and originally served as the dormitory for the Minister of Communications and Postal Affairs of the Governor-General of Taiwan during the Japanese colonial era. After the war, it was converted into the dormitory for the Director of the Department of Finance of the Taiwan Provincial Government. Li moved in when he served as the Minister of Finance in 1972 and resided there until his passing. K. T. Li was a key figure in Taiwan's economic development. From his entry into the finance and economics field in 1953 until he became a Presidential Advisor in 1988, he made outstanding contributions to the development of Taiwan's industry, economy, finance, and high-tech industries. He is hailed as the architect of Taiwan's economic miracle and the godfather of technology, with achievements renowned both domestically and internationally. The Taipei City Government designated K. T. Li's Former Residence as a municipal historic site in 2003 and built an exhibition hall next to it. The entire former residence was opened to the public on May 31, 2010, and has remained open to visitors since.
