Beitou Zhongxin New Village is one of the 13 military dependents' villages preserved by the Ministry of National Defense across Taiwan, and one of the few remaining complete military dependents' villages in Taipei City. The village's residences are closely related to the development of the Beitou Branch of Tri-Service General Hospital (formerly the Japanese Army's Beitou Garrison Hospital). Coupled with the complete preservation of residential architectural types from different periods, it combines Beitou's unique historical context, hot spring culture, and life memories, making Zhongxin New Village an important historical site in Beitou. In 2021, the Taipei Cultural Foundation took over its operations. Through space revitalization and residency programs, it promotes village preservation and redevelopment, fosters local historical and cultural investigations and research on military dependents' village culture, and gradually establishes a humanistic living space for military dependents' villages that is historical, educational, and knowledgeable. Beitou Zhongxin New Village positions itself as the "Taipei City Military Dependents' Village Cultural Preservation Base" as its development positioning and important goal. By connecting resources in the Xinbeitou area and expanding to inter-regional integration and promotion, it showcases Beitou's diverse and rich community stories, bringing new characteristics and highlights to Beitou.
