Hok-A-Tiu Academy. Also known as Oxford College, Hok-A-Tiu Academy was completed in 1882 and served as a base for the church to train personnel in missionary work, healthcare, and education at the time. To commemorate the support of his hometown folks, Mackay named it "Oxford" after his hometown county, to show his gratitude. Between 1872 and 1880, Dr. Mackay preached outdoors by the roadside, under banyan trees, by streams, or by the sea. Realizing the importance of establishing a school, he raised funds when he returned to Canada in 1880. Upon his return to Tamsui, he began constructing the school.
