It was built using the natural bay on the west side of the Yehliu Peninsula. A 100M breakwater was already built during the Japanese colonial era, along with a simple small pier for small boats to dock. After the restoration, the government sent personnel to survey and formulate a renovation plan. Later, Yehliu Fishing Harbor was gradually expanded. Furthermore, with the opening of the Baishihu Interchange of the National Freeway 1, local catches no longer needed to go to Keelung City before being transported onto the freeway, greatly expanding the harbor's transportation reach and breaking through its old scope. This also made Yehliu Fishing Harbor more important in the fishing industry of northern Taiwan.
