Gaitan Pit Archaeological Site. Shulin District was once rich in coal production, leaving behind many mine pit relics. Gaitan Pit, with a history of a hundred years, had the highest coal output among all the mine pits in Shanjiaojiao at that time. After the Japanese ruled Taiwan, they also recognized the rich mineral resources, which led to the construction of the current Shanjia Station as a dedicated station for coal transportation. The mine was sealed in 1959.
