Guanyin Terrace. Located on the mountaintop behind Pinglin Junior High School, this was originally the site of a Shinto shrine during the Japanese occupation period, and was later rebuilt into Guanyin Terrace. There is a trail leading to it. The Guanyin Terrace is 40 feet high, on a circular landscaped plaza with a diameter of 21 meters. The Guanyin statue is located in the center of the plaza, standing about 11 meters tall including its lotus pedestal. Facing the layered mountains to the south, it symbolizes eternal blessings for the people. It is not only a landmark of Pinglin but also the tallest bronze Guanyin statue in northern Taiwan. Following the Guanyin Terrace trail up and down the mountain, the terrace faces "Siyuan Terrace", gazing at each other with the Tea Village Mazu, protecting the people of the tea-producing region. Since visitors have already come this far, they might as well walk a bit more to exercise. From here, you can also see the Beiyi Highway and the Hsuehshan Tunnel, with a fantastic view!
