It was named Baima Temple to commemorate the White Horse Temple in Luoyang, which is considered the origin of Buddhism in China. The temple was initially established by two nuns, Daowu and Jingding, who led a group to found a Buddhist monastery here. They first borrowed three rooms from believers for their practice. In the early stages, the primary purpose was self-cultivation. Later, with donations from believers, they purchased land and began construction in 1976. In 1980, the Wuguan Hall was built. During the construction of the Amitabha Hall in 1984, a flood occurred, and it took two years to complete. In 1993, construction began on the Mahavira Hall.
