Jinguashi Shrine (Golden Shrine). Jinguashi Shrine, established on March 2, 1898 (Meiji 31). Jinguashi Shrine, established on March 2, 1898 (Meiji 31). It was built by the mine operator Tanaka Chōbei (Tanaka Gumi) in response to frequent bandit activity and the resulting unease among workers when the Jinguashi mine first began operations, in order to stabilize their morale. The shrine was built on the eastern end of Mount Jinguashi.
