Mackay Cemetery. Reverend George Leslie Mackay, whom we widely know as Dr. Mackay, arrived in. Reverend George Leslie Mackay, whom we widely know as Dr. Mackay, arrived in Tamsui in 1872 and has since been actively involved in missionary, medical, and educational activities. He was highly respected and beloved by the local residents. He passed away from throat cancer in Tamsui on June 2, 1901, and was buried in the land he deeply loved. Mackay Cemetery is located in a corner of Tamkang High School. It was originally the Tamsui Foreign Cemetery, but according to his will, a wall was built to separate his grave from those of other foreigners, signifying Mackay's belonging to Taiwan.
