Tamsui Climate Observatory. The Tamsui Climate Observatory was planned in 1937 and officially opened in 1941. It was one of the important observatories in northern Taiwan during the Japanese colonial era, known as the "Tamsui Branch Office" at the time, faithfully recording the climate changes in the Tamsui area over the years. Located above the Bizaitou Seaplane Base, the Tamsui Climate Observatory was originally an aviation meteorological observatory affiliated with the Tamsui Seaplane Base during the Japanese colonial era. In addition to observing weather, it also monitored coastal tide changes. Currently under the jurisdiction of meteorological authorities, every winter when cold air from the north moves south, the lowest temperature data for northern Taiwan reported in weather forecasts actually comes from this landmark reference point, the Tamsui Climate Observatory. It is now a designated historic site.
