Shitóu Mountain Hiking Trail. There are two Lion Head Mountains in Xindian. One is located in the mountainous area at the source of Huangku Stream at the border of Xindian and Sanxia, called Shitóu Mountain. Xiao Shitóu Mountain, along with Zhishanyan in Shilin, are among the few mountainous areas protected since the Qing Dynasty and Japanese colonial era, so tall trees are found everywhere, still retaining the appearance and tranquility of a primeval forest. Nearby, the large buttress roots of a Banyan tree stand tall and straight, with a magnificent and awe-inspiring appearance. The plant apartment on the Philippine Banyan is covered with various epiphytic or climbing plants, looking like a painting by nature. To the left of the Plum Blossom Lion Pavilion, along the trail, you can see the special sight of tree roots embracing rocks.
