Shan Wan Ran Hakka Glove Puppet Theater Troupe. Shan Wan Ran Theater Troupe was founded in 2002 by Huang Wu-shan, who studied traditional glove puppetry from Mr. Li Tian-lu's two sons, Chen Hsi-huang and Li Chuan-tsan, both national treasure-level glove puppet masters. In 2003, he graduated from the Graduate Institute of Theater Arts at Taipei National University of the Arts. He also understands the dedication of his mentors in passing down their skills. He learned Hakka folk songs from Ms. Lai Pi-hsia, a renowned Hakka folk song singer, and infused Hakka culture into traditional glove puppetry. He has become one of the few young performers in Taiwan with professional traditional glove puppetry skills and a foundation in theatrical academic theory, thus keeping the flame of traditional glove puppetry alive.
