Located within Jingtong Coal Mine Memorial Park above Jingtong Station in Pingxi, New Taipei City, the slag heap was not originally a mountain but waste materials separated after coal washing and selection. Over the years, these accumulated rocks formed a hill, also known as a slag heap, which has now become a tourist attraction. Visitors can see a mine entrance carved from stones, and the scene of coal being mined from Shidi and transported out through the main inclined shaft seems to reappear before their eyes. Jingtong Coal Mine Park is covered with lush vegetation, and the intertwined tree roots form a unique painted wall, which visitors can't help but capture with their cameras. Strolling through the coal mine park feels like stepping back a hundred years in Jingtong.
