Benshan Fifth Tunnel, as the name suggests, is one of the nine tunnels during the prosperous period of Benshan mining. It is located on the mountainside of Benshan, at an altitude of about 295 meters above sea level. After Jinguashi stopped mining gold in 1972, the Fifth Tunnel also faced the fate of closure in 1978. The Fifth Tunnel is the best-preserved tunnel among the nine Benshan mining tunnels today. The air compressors, mine car heads, washrooms, and ore transport cableways used for gold mining in the past are still preserved, witnessing the hundred-year history of Jinguashi mining.
