Caoling Historic Trail is a section of the Tamsui-Kavalan Old Trail opened up by our ancestors. The most well-known part today is the mountain path between Yuanwangpu in Gongliao District, New Taipei City, and Dali in Toucheng Township, Yilan County. It is 8.5 kilometers long and passes through Caoling, the border between New Taipei City and Yilan County. Along the way, there are two important stone tablets that have made this "Caoling Historic Trail" famous. The trail was built using southern road construction techniques, widened by the Japanese, and later recognized by various units after the restoration of Taiwan. Every autumn, the Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration promotes the Silvergrass Festival, making the trail a popular hiking path for the public.
