Nanzigou was originally a distributary channel of the Dahan River, 3.3 kilometers in length, serving as the boundary between Banqiao and Fuzhou areas. In the 1980s, due to the construction of the Fuzhou levee, the water source from the Dahan River was blocked. Nanzigou's main water source was changed to a branch of the Da'an Canal. Before the widespread adoption of sewage systems, a large amount of domestic wastewater flowed into the Da'an Canal branch, causing Nanzigou to become extremely dirty and foul-smelling at one point. In recent years, under the restoration efforts of the New Taipei City Government Water Resources Bureau, and after more than 10 years of optimization, Nanzigou has regained its vitality and transformed into a new paradise for flora and fauna.
