It got its name from the "Litou Dian Street" (now Nantun District), which was once a gathering place for shops that made farming tools like plowshares. It enshrines the Holy Mother of Meizhou (commonly known as Mazu, or Old Mazu) and is one of the four major Mazu temples in Taichung City. Wanhe Temple features the consistent characteristics of Taiwanese temples, with complex and delicate carvings. Completed in the fifth year of the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty, it has undergone renovations in the first year of the Daoguang reign, the 12th year of the Guangxu reign, and the 52nd, 55th, and 65th years of the Republic of China, with exterior wall painting and roof tiling, making the temple look brand new. Wanhe Temple is a three-hall style building with side rooms on the left and right, and the main hall, the Holy Mother Hall, enshrining Mazu. The rear hall enshrines Guanyin, the east wing of the rear hall enshrines Lord Guan, and the west wing enshrines Shennong Shi, all of whom are objects of worship for devout men and women. In the rear hall's side rooms, there is a hundred-year-old sedan chair, exquisitely crafted and resplendent. An ancient cauldron from the fifth year of the Guangxu reign and an ancient bell from the 20th year of the Daoguang reign are placed beside the stone steps, evoking a sense of tranquility.
