Dakeng Scenic Area is located in Beitun District, Taichung City. In 1976, Dakeng Scenic Area was developed and established by the Taichung City Government, with an altitude ranging from 112 to 859 meters. The origin of the name "Dakeng" comes from the fact that early residents primarily lived in a wide valley, hence the name. Most of the early settlers were Hakka people; even earlier, this area was inhabited by the Pingpu indigenous people. There are over 30 species of deciduous trees here, and during the transition between the dry and wet seasons, the ground is often covered with golden fallen leaves, creating a beautiful scene comparable to the autumn foliage of O'an Da. It possesses the highest degree of naturalness in all of Taichung City, making it an excellent destination for public leisure, recreation, and forest bathing on holidays.
