Built in 1935 during the Showa era of the Japanese occupation, the Taichung Broadcasting Bureau boasts beautiful architecture and garden landscapes, making it a prime photo spot for many visitors. Its address, No. 1, Radio Street, is also the only house number on the entire street, which is quite unique. The Taichung Broadcasting Bureau played an important role in Taiwan's broadcasting history. It officially began broadcasting on May 11, 1935, and was established by the Japanese government to develop broadcasting and serve as a relay station for all of Taiwan's broadcasts. It was also Taiwan's third radio station. After retiring from the broadcasting industry in 1998, it was designated as a historical building of Taichung City in 2002. Architect Po-Nien Chen oversaw its renovation in 2003. In 2015, the operation was entrusted to the "Good Location" team (@STUDIO Creative) of the Historical Building OT Operation Business Department of Shengchiao Information. The goal is to inherit the broadcasting bureau's spirit of "information dissemination" and establish an important cultural broadcasting base in central Taiwan.
