The ancestor who migrated to Taiwan, Zhang. The builder of "Wanxuan Residence", Zhang Shixi (1802-1872), also known as Wanchun, was a Hakka from Dapu County, Chaozhou Prefecture, Guangdong Province. The ancestor who migrated to Taiwan, Zhang Dajing (1690-1773), and his land reclamation company "Zhang Zhen Wan" played an important role in the Han Chinese settlement of the central region. Zhang Shixi began construction of "Wanxuan Residence" in the 10th year of Tongzhi (1871). After his death the following year, his four sons inherited and continued the construction, which was officially completed in the 12th year of Tongzhi (1873).
