Lian Tan. Lian Tan is located at the northern end of Baihe District, Tainan City, and is the origin of Baihe lotus flowers. It borders the Bazhang River to the north, facing Shuishang Township, Chiayi County, with an area of 3.62 square kilometers. The lotus flowers in the Baihe area first originated in Lian Tan and Guang'an. Lian Tan has a large-scale lotus production, especially in the northeastern area of Sishijiucong and Lian Tan Tianyang, where the lotus fields are crisscrossed, forming a spectacular sight. The plains with scattered hills, abundant marshes, ponds, and clay soil are a fertile ground for lotus growth, hence the settlement was named "Lian Tan" (Lotus Born in the Pond), one of the four settlements in Lian Tan Community. Due to its name, it has long been known as the "Hometown of Lotus." Later, due to administrative re-planning and renaming, "Lian Tan" changed from a settlement name to a village name, becoming the only place name in Baihe District associated with "lotus." Lian Tan Community is a typical rural community, with green plains interspersed with several small hills. Residents have lived here for generations, engaged in agriculture, with simple and honest folk customs, diligence, and frugality. Lotus seeds are the main agricultural product. Due to staggered planting times, beautiful lotus flowers can be enjoyed from April to October. This special scene of harvesting lotus in summer, shelling lotus seeds in every household; digging lotus roots in winter, and drying lotus root starch in every household, reflects the lifestyle of the community's residents.
