The entire construction was completed in 1634. After Koxinga captured the Dutch city in 1662, it was renamed Anping Town, and the inner city was renamed the Royal Palace. The Taiwanese thus called it the Royal City. During the Qing Dynasty, due to the gradual silting and land reclamation of the Taijiang Bay, it lost its importance. Coupled with the Qing soldiers' destruction of Fort Zeelandia to build Eternal Golden Castle, it gradually fell into disrepair. It was rebuilt after the Japanese occupation, and after World War II, it was named "Anping Fort." Currently, the only remaining relics from the Dutch period are the brick walls of the southern city wall of the outer fortress in front of the ancient fort. Old banyan roots intertwine, bearing witness to the history of Taijiang for nearly 400 years.
