Built in the 20th year of Daoguang (1840 AD) during the Opium Wars, it was one of the coastal defense measures built by the Qing army in Taiwan at that time to resist the British army. The battery is divided into a main body and a moat stone embankment. The moat stone embankment extends north-south in a narrow and long shape. The main body of the battery is located next to the Water Pool Park and is built of granite. The northern stone embankment is made of coral stone and rammed earth, with embrasures and a gate to block water. It is a municipal-designated ancient monument. Unlike the Western-style modern batteries of Eternal Golden Castle, it is the most complete representative of late-period traditional Chinese batteries preserved today.
