Remains of the East Gate Section of the Former Taiwan Prefecture City Wall. The remaining wall section located on Guanghua Street between Dadong and Xiaodong Gates, based on its structure and appearance, is presumed to have been built in the 53rd year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, along with the remaining section of the Xiaodong Gate in the current National Cheng Kung University Guangfu Campus. The remaining wall section located on Guanghua Street between Dadong and Xiaodong Gates, based on its structure and appearance, is presumed to have been built in the 53rd year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1788), along with the remaining section of the Xiaodong Gate in the current National Cheng Kung University Guangfu Campus. During the Qing rule period, the Zhu Yigui incident occurred in Taiwan, leading to the approval of constructing a wooden and bamboo fence city in the 11th year of the Yongzheng reign (1733). In the 53rd year of the Qianlong reign (1788), after the Lin Shuangwen incident was suppressed, the wooden and bamboo fence city was rebuilt into an earthen city to strengthen the defense of the prefecture city. The ramparts became more consolidated and the scale more magnificent, laying the foundation for future expansion. It was not until the Zhang Bing incident in the 12th year of the Daoguang reign (1833) that the outer city was expanded. The city walls were gradually dismantled until the implementation of the Tainan City Redevelopment Plan in the 44th year of the Meiji era (1911).
