Today's narrow street was once part of the famous "Five Harbors" of the former capital, specifically the "Xingangqian Harbor" channel. Beside the harbor, dockworkers surnamed Huang, Wang, and Liu, who were responsible for loading and unloading goods, brought the Xuan Tian Shang Di from their hometown to Taiwan as their guardian deity, praying for safe voyages and smooth work. The temple also became a gathering place for these workers of the same surnames.
