It is said that in the late Qing Dynasty, the area around Er Wang Lun, where the temple is located, was covered with towering banyan trees and sparsely populated, with only a small path for passage. At that time, bandits were rampant and arrogantly announced they would rob the settlement. The terrified local residents prayed to the Second Lord for peace. Unexpectedly, when the bandits arrived that day, they got lost in the banyan forest and could not find the path to the village. The residents were amazed and considered it a miracle of the Second Lord, which solidified the importance of Er Wang Temple in the local faith.
