Guanghui Zunwang was a historical figure, the statesman Xie An, famous for winning the Battle of Fei River. Xie An was from the Eastern Jin Dynasty, known for his strategic mind and noble character. After his death, he was posthumously honored as the Duke of Luling Commandery, hence Guanghui Shengwang is also known as Wang Gong Ye (Lord Wang), and the temple is called 'Wang Gong Temple'. The worship of Guanghui Zunwang was brought to Taiwan by immigrants from Zhangzhou. According to historical records, it was founded during the Zheng regime. Even during the Japanese colonial period, despite the temple being demolished to build a police station and its side rooms being removed during the forced assimilation movement, the faith has continued unbroken to this day, serving as the spiritual center of the Dawan area. The grand ritual held every twelve years is a major local event. The most famous procession is the 'Centipede Formation', where children dressed as historical or mythical figures sit on a centipede-shaped float, a focal point for photography enthusiasts.
