Baoxi Daitian Temple. Baoxi Daitian Temple was founded during the Zheng Dynasty (1662). It mainly worships the Three Princes (Zhu, Chi, and Li), also known as the "Three Old Masters.". The temple was originally called "Daren Temple" and was renamed "Daitian Temple" after the war. Due to its early establishment, it is known as one of the "Three Great Ancient Daitian Temples of Nanying" along with Nan Kun Shen Daitian Temple and Jiali Jintang Temple. Due to its geographical location, it is also known as one of the "Three Great Temples Outside the East Gate of Taiwan Prefectural City" along with Renzhou Temple in Guiren and Shanxi Temple in Guanmiao. The Wangjiao and Mazu procession activities of these three temples have recently become a national important folk custom called "Wangjiao and Youshe of the Three Great Temples of Nanguan Line," highlighting the friendly relations between the temples along the line. Baoxi Daitian Temple Wangjiao and Mazu Procession: Held approximately once every twelve years or more, the timing is uncertain. It preserves a complete set of Wangjiao rituals, from building the boat factory, inviting the boat's keel (note), fetching water, consecrating the King Boat, erecting lantern poles, launching the King Boat, to the fire ritual, the inauguration of the Yuanmen official, inviting the King, ascending the platform to present memorials, universal salvation, Mazu procession, sending off the King, and thanking the lantern poles. These rituals bear witness to the pioneering history of the Nanguan Line. Note: (舟參) is a combined ancient character, pronounced the same as "can," referring to the longitudinal timber at the bottom of the boat, which is the keel of the King Boat.
