Xin'an Temple Arts Center is located in Kunjiang Village, Beimen District, not far from the bustling Southern Kun Sheng Temple. It carries a sense of desolation and the tranquility of Beimen's traditional fishing village. Mr. Hong Tong, renowned as the "Picasso of the East," created works here that shook the art world. Mr. Hong Tong's paintings are filled with a strong sense of fantasy, using colors and brushstrokes that were uncommon at the time. A major characteristic of his work is the frequent appearance of indecipherable hieroglyphs and figures without ears. Mr. Hong Tong would often immerse himself in his small house, painting with abandon. The house where he once lived still stands behind the Xin'an Temple Arts Center, with many photographs from his life displayed outside. Walking inside, one can almost imagine his focused demeanor as he painted. The arts center currently exhibits many of Mr. Hong Tong's paintings.
