Liuyi Mountain Hiking Trail. Liuyi Mountain is approximately 784 meters above sea level, belonging to the Wushan Range of the Alishan Mountains. It serves as the border mountain between Jiaxian District in Kaohsiung and Nanhua District in Tainan. It was a popular hiking destination during the Japanese colonial era. The trail is developed along the mountain ridge, with its path restored in imitation of the ancient trails from the Japanese colonial period, using natural ecological engineering methods with faux wood-grain pile paving. The total length is approximately 4.35 kilometers. There are four trail entrances, from north to south: Side, Gongguan, Baiye, and Zixia entrances. A traverse takes about 3 hours one way. The trail features a wide variety of tree species, with different flowering plants blooming in each season. Especially in winter, the plum trees bloom, filling the air with a delightful fragrance, creating a beautiful and dreamlike scene. Looking west, east, and south, one can overlook Nanhua Reservoir, the Central Mountain Range, and the Wushan Range of the Alishan Mountains. The expansive views are ideal for watching the sunset. Along the trail, there are attractions such as a lake-viewing platform, a plum-blossom viewing platform, the Liuyi Mountain Monument at the summit, a saddle observation deck, and a dam-viewing pavilion. It has been selected by the Forestry Bureau as a national-level health trail.
