Jiaxian Bridge. Located on Provincial Highway 20 (Southern Cross-Island Highway), Jiaxian Bridge spans the Nanzixian River and serves as the entrance to Jiaxian District. The old bridge was severely damaged by Typhoon Morakot in 2009, forcing traffic into Jiaxian to use a temporary bridge across the riverbed. After expedited construction, the new Jiaxian Bridge was finally completed and opened in June 2010. The rebuilt Jiaxian Bridge serves both transportation and scenic functions. This 300-meter steel arch bridge features an extra-long span with only two piers in addition to the abutments at both ends, minimizing obstruction in the water channel and preventing overflow and riverbank erosion. At the bridgehead, there is a sculpture of taro, a famous product of Jiaxian District, and the bridge itself is painted a light purple to welcome visitors. After dark, the beautiful three-arch bridge transforms into Taiwan's largest LED-lit bridge, displaying over twenty changing colors, creating a rainbow-like light show on the Nanzixian River. Its charming appearance, distinct by day and night, has made Jiaxian Bridge a new welcoming landmark for Jiaxian.
