Air Force Museum of History. In the early years of the Republic of China, the Founding Father, Sun Yat-sen, recognizing the importance of aviation to national defense and military affairs, personally inscribed "Aviation Saves the Nation" and predicted that aircraft would be the ultimate weapon of victory in future wars. Thus, starting in 1928, an aviation corps was established in Nanjing, followed by the Central Aviation School to train China's aviation elites. Through campaigns such as the Eastern Expedition, Northern Expedition, bandit suppression, the War of Resistance, and the Communist Rebellion, and in commemoration of the Air Force's glorious history of dedication to the nation and its heroic deeds, the Air Force Museum of History was established at the Air Force Academy in Gangshan. It features twenty-two exhibition units displaying over 20,000 artifacts. The museum is open for group visits by organizations, schools, and other groups from Tuesday to Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, it is open to military personnel and the public for free visits.
