Kaohsiung, a port city, is the birthplace of our nation's deep-sea fishing industry, with over 3,000 fishing vessels and a total tonnage exceeding 560,000 tons, catching over 700,000 metric tons of fish annually. The Fishery Culture Hall was established to enhance public understanding of Kaohsiung's fishery industry, thereby fostering concern for its development and heritage. The hall is divided into various themed areas such as deep-sea trawling, coastal and offshore fishing, aquatic processing industry, aquaculture, fishery conservation and utilization, as well as squid and tuna fishery culture halls. It conveys knowledge about marine fisheries through various realistic images and multimedia, allowing the public and future generations to better understand and connect with Kaohsiung's vital industry. The establishment of the Fishery Culture Hall also integrates with the Cijin Fishing Port direct sales center and Cijin Fish Market, providing the public with a place for intellectual engagement and recreation, while also serving educational, cultural, and tourism functions.
